If you are diagnosed with testicular cancer, there are several methods of treatment which, when used separately or together, have an extremely high rate of success.
Surgery
In this method, a surgeon operates to remove the cancerous cells, the affected testicle and at times, some surrounding lymph nodes.
Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy utilises powerful radiation beams to eliminate cancerous cells. The radiation beams damage the DNA of cancerous cells, which means they can no longer multiply and spread. Healthy cells that might be damaged by radiation therapy generally heal normally. Sometimes, radiation therapy is used in conjunction with surgery to eradicate any cancerous cells that might have been missed during the extraction process.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy drugs target cells that multiply rapidly, such as cancerous cells and hair follicles. Chemotherapy remains a highly effective way to treat testicular cancer, and has a great success rate.
